Information for Parents | TASC Test
If you’re the parent of someone who has decided that the traditional high school setting is not for him or her, you might consider discussing high school equivalency options. A high school equivalency can enable your student to continue their education at the college level and apply for more jobs. In a competitive market, earning a high school equivalency can completely change your child’s future.
In 2014, Data Recognition Corporation | CTB introduced TASC Test Assessing Secondary Completion™ as an affordable and accessible alternative to the GED test®. If his or her state has approved the TASC test as a high school equivalency option, your son or daughter can take the test.
A high school equivalency prepares students to gain employment or begin postsecondary education or more technical training.
Unlike a diploma, it is not rewarded by your child’s high school. It is rewarded by your state’s Department of Education.
You can support your child simply by encouraging him or her. Offer words of encouragement at home and help him or her study.
You could also help your child find the right preparation materials. Because new tests have been introduced this year, be sure you have the most up-to-date materials. Many publishers have recently released new materials or are in the process of doing so. Find the right resources online, or you can help your child enroll in a preparation program.
You know your child. You know what he or she needs to be successful. Use your insight to support them as they take on the challenge of earning a high school equivalency.
